Treasure Island is an adventure novel written by Scotsman Robert Louis Stevenson. It was first published in one volume, in London in May 1883. It first came to readers in several deliveries, through children's literature magazineYoung Folks, published between 1881 and 1882, under the title The Sea Cook, or Treasure Island.

One of the most beautiful editions is the one illustrated in 1911 by artist and illustrator Newell Convers Wyeth, one of the American greatest illustrators.
Treasure Island has been a source of inspiration for the film, television, literature, comics and videogames. This classic is not only known for its atmosphere and characters of action, but also for its ironic tone of moral ambiguity.

The influence of Treasure Island on popular image about pirates is enormous, even now if you want to tell a compelling story of pirates, you cannot miss the treasure maps marked with an x, the black patch or the extravagant cockatoo standing on the shoulder of a Capitan pirate.
