This story follows the adventures of Dorothy Gale in Oz’s land. It was the first children´s book which describes typical characters and places of U.S in an age where all fairy tales were describing European landscapes. So for this reason this book is one of the best known stories of American popular culture.
This classic of children's literature was written by Lyman Frank Baum, Its original version was illustrated by W. W. Denslow, and edited by George M. Hill Company of Chicago in 1900. 
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz has been translated into many languages and since 1956 is in the public domain in the United States.
